Suggest A Purchase

The responsibility for incorporating new materials is a cooperative one involving input from faculty, staff, and students.

  • To suggest a purchase, contact one of the libraries' Subject Selectors (listed below) or use our Suggest a Purchase online form.
  • Subject selectors are also happy to work with users on longer term collection goals.
  • Collection policies and procedures are set by the Libraries’ Collection Development Committee (see below).
  • For more information about collection development roles, funding, item selection, and donations, please see the Harrison Libraries' Collection Development Manual (PDF).

Collection Development Committee

The Libraries’ Collection Development Committee (CDC) is responsible for coordinating collection management in the Libraries. It is composed of the Libraries’ heads of Mortensen Reference/Public Services, Mortensen Resource and Metadata Services, Head of the Allen Library, and the Acquisitions Specialists. The CDC coordinates the activities of Subject Selectors (see above). Input from faculty is encouraged by the Subject Selectors; specific faculty and student suggestions relevant to collections are routed to the appropriate selector and may be reviewed by the CDC. A printed version of the Libraries’ Collection Development Manual may be downloaded or requested from the Libraries Director.
